Now more than ever people are turning to strength training to combat the effects of aging, improve bone density, boost metabolism and maintain joint health. Incorporating weights and other resistance training techniques into your personal practice and teaching is an effective and efficient way to harness the many benefits of this side of fitness while also working toward maximizing the flexibility, balance and mental clarity inherent in yoga.
Ā This immersion will give current students and teachers some baseline knowledge and experience that will allow you to begin to tailor a yoga practice that allows for you / your students to achieve strength gains, to increase mobility and agility and to improve overall fitness.

You will walk away with:

  • A better understanding of the physiological process of building strength
  • A variety of resistance-based movements you can easily incorporate into a yoga class, including alignment, cueing and breath principles associated with each technique
  • Best practices for using hand weights, therabands, resistance bands and sliders as well as ideas for using traditional yoga props in ways that help with strength and mobility
  • Class templates you can easily put into play as well as tips for sequencing your own classes
  • Recovery exercises to offer a well-balanced experience
  • A manual you can take with you to reference the techniques and class templates covered
  • Access to an online library of techniques and sample classes
  • Gain 8 CEUsĀ accredited through Yoga Alliance
